Your contributions

• Leading a team of about 25 mechanical engineers, coaching and encouraging their development;
• Promote a working environment where collaboration, innovation and inclusiveness are key;
• Conduct performance reviews with all team members;
• Define and implement the strategy for the department, in line with our client's goals;
• Make long-term plans for the technological growth of the department;
• Plan and allocate capacity and resources between development and order work;
• Improve order engineering and configuration processes to work more efficiently;
• Simplify development processes and introduce standards for better quality and consistency;
• Deploy KPIs to monitor departmental performance;
• Ensure compliance with all industry standards and regulations;
• Lead quality improvement initiatives to increase product quality;
• Address complexity and make improvements in design reviews;
• Work well with managers in Engineering and other departments, such as assembly and procurement, for good coordination. Build strong links with teams in Electrical and Software Engineering;
• Collaborate with sales and international customers to integrate their feedback into engineering solutions;
• You will report to the Director of Engineering.

Your profile

• Minimum college level, with specialisation in Mechanical or Mechatronic design;
• Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar leadership role;
• Good knowledge of mechanical design processes, production methods and industry standards;
• Experience in managing engineering teams and strong interpersonal skills;
• Good organisational and planning skills;
• Experience in budget management, planning and development costs;
• Be able to be a sparring partner for engineers;
• Good communication skills, both written and oral, in English and Dutch;
• Knowledge of hygienic design and food safety is a plus;
• Experience with tools for leading a mechanical engineering department (such as 3D design, modelling, simulation, SAP, work package planning).
