Your contributions
In addition to leading and coaching the software engineering team, these are your duties:
- Initiate programmes within the department to promote technological advancement and team growth;
- Establish, manage and prioritise the software engineering backlog;
- Derive and implement the strategic direction and vision in line with our client's broader goals;
- Drive innovation in software architecture, control algorithms and user experience to improve the value of machines within the packaging industry;
- Validate that each development supports the strategic direction and vision;
- Directing the development of applications and networks (communication) between machines in a production line (horizontal communication) and between higher control systems (vertical communication);
- Ensure software meets the highest quality standards, including testing, debugging and troubleshooting;
- Maintain documentation and version control of software to support product service;
- Work closely with fellow managers from external locations and other departments (e.g. product management, sales) to ensure alignment. You will also build strong relationships with the Electrical and Mechanical Engineering departments;
- Collaborate with sales and customers to understand their feedback and integrate it into technical solutions.
Your profile
For this position, we are looking for someone with proven ability to lead and manage development and engineering teams, with strong interpersonal and team-building skills. In addition, you should have:
- Education: minimum BSc level, college in software engineering or a related field;
- Minimum 7-10 years' experience in software development and engineering in industrial equipment, of which at least 3-5 years in a managerial role;
- Extensive knowledge of:
- User experience, including Human-Machine Interface (HMI) development
- MES, SCADA, PLC controls, embedded controls (C/C++/C#), OPC UA
- Ethernet protocols: Ethernet/IP, EtherCAT, Profinet, Modbus TCP
- Agile development methods (e.g. SCRUM)
- Product security
- Familiarity with complex business processes encompassing development, engineering, project management, SATs, FATs and after-sales service in an international context;
- Excellent organisational, planning and process management skills; strong communication skills;
- Proficiency in Dutch and English, both oral and written;
- Command of the German language is an advantage.

Application areas in the pharmaceutical industry include the production, processing, filling, inspection and packaging of liquid and solid medicines (such as syringes and capsules). Our client's location is in Weert and is easily accessible from Eindhoven, Roermond, Helmond and Venlo.
